Project  DL13:

This is the foundation of the Moës Dl 13 project. It is a modernized Moës locomotive type BL, originally from a brickyard located in the region of Boom. It was later acquired by the Averbode amusement park, where it was equipped with a bogie to be transformed into an imitation of a steam locomotive.

Around the years 2000 to 2005, this machine was recovered by Olivier Ladriere. He took it apart, but the project remained on hold for many years due to time constraints on his part, despite his regrets. The locomotive remained stored in a shed, waiting patiently for attention. My father, because of his professional commitments and his involvement in normal track machines, could not devote time to these locomotives. My own interest in these machines was aroused about 4 to 5 years ago.

About a year ago, a friend told us about his proposal to exchange his Dl13 locomotive for our modernized BL locomotive, assuming we had modernized machines ready for exchange. As this was not the case, he decided to modernize his own machine. At that moment, I started a conversation with him to discuss the future of the D13 engine. We ended up entering into an exchange agreement with an engine we owned. When we went to retrieve this engine, we unfortunately discovered that unscrupulous individuals had access to our hangar, where our two other BL locomotives, equipped with original Type B engines, were stored. This situation required a rescue operation to preserve our engines.

In February 2023, we embarked on a trip to the Rhône to exchange engines. During this move, we recovered the D13 engine and the slightly shortened body of the DL 13. Now, in August 2023, I am about to recover the chassis of the machine, as shown in the photo, to install it in a garage. This is where the locomotive will return to its original appearance, and we will document this process through photos and attached videos.

The machine was removed from its hangar on 21/08/2023. Today, on 08/22/2023, I cleaned the chassis to get a clean base for my future work. This work will involve removing the two angles that were used to support the Deutz engine, as well as restoring the chassis to its original state by removing the additions present on it.
