DLM 1 Monceau coal mine:

In 1936, Moës developed a D-type four-stroke diesel engine, specifically designed for a variety of applications, including locomotives used in underground mines, surface locomotives, generators, pumps, ships, as well only for the conversion of steam tractors and Fordson tractors. This engine was equipped with safety devices, including a flame arrester and an exhaust gas cleaning system called "water lock", which were particularly suitable for mining locomotives. Moës locomotives were identified by different names, namely DLM for mining locomotives, DL for versions intended for surface use, and DLG for drift-specific versions. The Moës D-type engine range included one, two, three, four, five and six cylinder engines, offering outputs ranging from 12 to 84 horsepower, depending on engine model and number of cylinders.

I present to you today a Moës DLM1 type locomotive, built in 1948 at the Moës workshop in Waremme. This locomotive is powered by a single-cylinder engine with a power of 12 horsepower and weighs 4700 kg. It is specially designed to work on tracks with a width of 50 cm, which makes it ideal for restricted environments such as mines. Moës locomotives have played an essential role in coal mines in Belgium as well as in other mining regions around the world, participating in various transport and handling tasks.

Here are the characteristics of this DLM1 type Moës locomotive:

- Manufacturer: Moes
- Serial number: L115
- Wheel diameter: 0.4 meters
- Operating weight: 4700 kg
- Tractive effort at the hook: Between 0.88 tons and 0.460 tons
- Maximum load: 45 tons
- Speed: 3.5 km/h to 6.7 km/h
- Motor power: 12 horsepower
